CANIDAE Racing Trophy Truck Receives New Engine and Plans for Top Finishes in 2011

CANIDAE Racing will begin its second competitive season in the trophy truck class at the 17th annual SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge race in Laughlin, Nevada on January 14, 2011. After a year spent testing their capabilities under competition conditions at eight events during the 2010 racing season, co-drivers Scott Whipple and Scott Gailey are determined to turn their experience and new racing technology into podium finishes.

"We are very proud of our team's accomplishments during 2010, our first year of racing in the Trophy Truck class. Our plan was to be conservative on our engine package and learn how to drive this awesome machine. For 2011 we are installing an 800 HP 454 CI Dougan small block Chevy. Having a year under our belt, and awesome Dougan HP and reliability going forward, we feel we can be very competitive during the 2011 season," said co-driver Whipple.

In addition to a new custom built engine for the season, CANIDAE Racing has welcomed aboard both new and returning sponsors. "We are proud to continue our relationship with influential advertisers such as Lucas Oil and several other key sponsors in 2011. We also are very pleased to welcome Magnaflow Exhaust Systems as a major sponsor. Magnaflow will be doing R&D on our exhaust system and providing technology improvements..." (read more)

Justin ImHof, age 17, was severely injured on November 18, 2010 while riding for the JCR Honda team on his 8x bike at the Baja 1000 race in Mexico. ImHof was at UCSD Hospital for several weeks in a coma. He recently came out of his coma and is making small amounts of progress toward a recovery each day.

"All of us at Canidae Racing were very moved when we heard about his injuries. We know how difficult recovery from such a devastating racing injury can be, and also understand the financial difficulties that can go along with the medical care and rehabilitation," said Scott Gailey, driver for Canidae Racing, who continued, "We all decided to help Justin and his family by auctioning off a ride in our Trophy Truck for the Laughlin Leap on January 14th. We are putting the winner in the navigator seat!"

The winner of the auction, to be conducted online and culminate at a final live auction at Oakley Headquarters located at 1 Icon, Foothill Ranch, CA on January 8th, will be welcomed aboard the 800 HP Canidae Racing Trophy Truck for the famous Laughlin Leap which is a large jump set up in the middle of the course that sends trucks and cars flying over a hundred feet in the air the day before the race.

In addition to being aboard the Trophy Truck for the excitement of the Leap, the winner of the auction will become an honorary member of Team Canidae Racing for the entire Laughlin Desert Challenge, and receive free weekend accommodations at the Tropicana Express Hotel Casino.
