Canidae Trophy Truck Team Achieves Top 10 Finish at the Mint 400

Canidae Pet Foods Racing Team Finishes SNORE Mint 400 in seventh place and begins preparations for SCORE Baja 500 in June.

The Canidae All Natural Pet Foods offroad Trophy Truck team finished the Mint 400 in seventh place this past weekend despite tough competition, treacherous terrain, and little experience with their brand new motor.

What started out as a fun filled event in Las Vegas turned into an all out war come race day. The weekend began with the historic Mint 400 "Fan Fest" on Freemont Street on Thursday. The entire Canidae crew was able to spread their message of Responsible Pet Ownership to all of the race fans and pet owners gathered for this famous race. Team members handed out thousands of free samples and coupons for super premium Canidae dog and cat foods. Fans and crew had a great time together, enjoying the festivities and music well into the night. Friday brought qualifying, contingency and tech inspection. Paul Lee to Take CANIDAE Car “Four Wide” at Charlotte

It can be awfully exciting when NASCAR or IndyCar drivers go three and four wide into a turn on an oval, but they’ve got nothing on the straight-line racers at this weekend’s Inaugural NHRA Four-Wide Nationals at zMAX Dragway in the Charlotte suburb of Concord.

Nearly 32,000 horsepower in the Funny Car and Top Fuel classes will roll up to the starting line for each round of qualifying and eliminations in NHRA’s first race in history to compete in four lanes instead of the traditional two. That’s right, for the first time drag-race fans will see four cars on the starting grid for each round instead of two, four cars performing burnouts side-by-side-by-side-by-side, and four cars launching together in concert in each qualifying session and elimination round.

“This will definitely be a race for the fans,” Lee said. “They’re going to see four cars going down the track in every round of qualifying and eliminations. It’s the first time for something definitely different, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ve never been to the zMAX Dragway so I’m looking forward to it. All of Bruton Smith’s tracks are awesome and this one should be no different.” (read more)

Blake Baggett Takes the Win!

Rookie Baggett Wins First AMA Supercross Lites Class Race of his Career

Rockstar Energy, Suzuki, Canidae Pet Foods rider #66 Blake Baggett knows a lot about perseverance. As his night started in Irving, TX in the brand new Texas Stadium, the rookie rider could not catch a break as he went down hard in his heat race causing him to ride in the LCQ (Last Chance Qualifier) to try to make it into the main.

As the LCQ got started, Baggett got a great start and put himself in second place, the last transfer position. As Baggett crossed the start / finish line for the first lap, the red flags were waving, stopping the race. Because there was a rider down that required medical attention, the race was started over and Baggett was well outside a transfer position on the second restart. For most young riders, they would put their head down and try again at the next race but not Canidae’s Blake Baggett. Blake would move up to fourth and while putting pressure on the second and third place riders, Baggett would just barely avoid their collision and move into second place and secure the final spot for the Main Event. CANIDAE Pet Foods' own Scott Whipple Interviewed in This Month's Dirt Sports Magazine

In an interview for the March 2010 issue of Dirt Sports magazine, CANIDAE Trophy Truck and world-record sand drag driver Scott Whipple, who is also co-founder of CANIDAE All Natural Pet Foods, was asked about the relationship between motorsports and pet food.

"It's simple. Motorsports groups are, by nature, very passionate about their lifestyle and their pets. No pet food company has ever considered marketing to that arena. We are able to market our brand to a new group of consumers who maybe aren't aware of the better natural pet foods out there. lt's a great arena for us to do multiple things in."

Whipple went on to say that motorsports teams and sponsorships "...created a huge response from a group of fans and racers we have never been able to reach. We don't have huge budgets for television ads, so we are able to touch a lot of people."

For the full interview, be sure to check out the March edition of Dirt Sports magazine on sale now. To read the full interview online head to dirtsportsnation.com.

CANIDAE Trophy Truck Does Not Go Far, But Reaches a Long Way!

The CANIDAE All Natural Pet Foods team has developed a sort of Bermuda Triangle North of San Felipe just past the infamous Zoo Road crossing. Within feet of the exact spot that CANIDAE's Class 10 car broke an axle in the 2009 Baja 1000, the CANIDAE Trophy Truck rolled to a stop with a blown motor at this year s SCORE San Felipe 250. A huge disappointment for the team considering how well the truck was running with driver Scott Whipple behind the wheel. The weekend was not a total loss however.

On Friday, the day before the race, members of the CANIDAE Racing team dropped in to the ZAPP s Animal Clinic near San Felipe to meet the owners and doctors as well as some of the volunteer staff that make this amazing facility work. Not even open a year, this no kill animal shelter has performed over 6000 spay and neuter procedures and rescued thousands of animals. After being given a tour of the facility the crew left, only to return shortly with over 500 pounds of CANIDAE dog food and FELIDAE cat food for the hospital... [read more]

The CANIDAE Pet Foods Top Fuel Sand Dragster generates over 6,000 horsepower as it rockets down the 100 yard track in the sand, consistently reaching the finish line in under 2.4 seconds at over 160 miles per hour. There are virtually no rules in this class besides safety considerations. At night, race fans are treated to the awesome spectacle of header flames from these nitromethane burning machines as they ignite down the track... [read more]

Lee Both a Racer and a Fan when Talking about Gatornationals

It is easy to forget that most drivers in all disciplines of racing not only enjoy competing on the track, but are also big fans and historians of their sport. Such is the case with Paul Lee, driver of the CANIDAE/Lucas Oil/WileyX Funny Car, when it comes to this weekend’s 41st annual Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.

A native of New Jersey, the Gatornationals always represented the first chance for Lee and most other East Coast racers to dust off the cobwebs and hit the track for the first time of the race season.
