Lee Not Trying to be Spoiler in Countdown

Contrary to his recent on-track exploits, Paul Lee isn’t trying to play the roll of spoiler and upset anybody’s quest for this year’s Full Throttle Series Funny Car championship as he prepares for this weekend’s 25th annual O’Reilly Super Start Batteries Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex located 40 miles south of downtown Dallas.

But the driver of the CANIDAE Pet Foods/Lucas Oil/WileyX/Kymco Chevy has enjoyed a late-season surge that has seen him advance to three consecutive quarterfinals (Brainerd, Indy, Charlotte), and through the first two of six races of the playoffs in the Countdown to the Championship the 52-year-old Lee has scored more points than five of the 10 qualifiers for the Countdown.
